Stage2’s Spring Term 2024

Sunday 7th January – Sunday 24th March

(no break for half term)

@ Queensbridge School, Queensbridge Road, Moseley, B13 8QB

Stage2 are proud to be coming back for another fabulous term, full of  exciting options for our members. Whether you want to be on the stage in our Productions (or prepare your skills for the upcoming production…!), or harness your skill in our Workshops, there is an option for you! We also have frequent social and performance events for our members, and pride ourselves on bursting with opportunity. Use the Toggle Bars below to discover the options available to you:

Spring Term Options

As it is the Spring Term, this is our workshops term and the options are as follows:

Morning slot (9.30am-1pm)

Stage1 (Drama for 7-10 year olds) and Musical Theatre (back by popular demand!).

Afternoon slot (1.30-5pm)

Creating Comedy (fun drama skills for all) and Midsummers Principal Rehearsals (for the main eighteen roles in the play).

Please use the toggle bars below to explore the options and find out more. You can do both a morning and an afternoon slot at no extra cost!

All new members to Stage2 also get a Young Leader buddy in their first term to help them out with navigating all of our exciting opportunities and making friends.

Stage1: 9.30am-1pm

Stage1 is our group for 7-10 year olds and runs on Sunday mornings, 9.30am-1pm. We are very exciting to be relaunching this group, which is all about fun and friends! If you want your child to gain confidence, make new friends, learn a new skill and have buckets of fun, then this is definitely the option for them.

Musical Theatre: 9.30am-1pm

Back by popular demand, we’ll be tackling Musical Theatre again! Whether you’re a complete Musical Theatre novice, an experienced triple-threat, or somewhere in the middle, there will be someting for everyone in this option. Members will vote on the first week for musicals they want to take on, and we’ll spend the term preparing a repertoire of material. This is a skills workshop which requires consistent attendance, dedication to learning songs/choreography and the willingness to get stuck in and challenge yourself. We take dance and singing technique to a whole new level, and this year will be even bigger and better than last year…!

Classes in Comedy: 1.30-5pm

A fun skills workshop breaking down the art of comedy. This option replaces our usual General Drama workshop, and it a relaxed and slightly more informal skills workshop. Those who are beginners will still get a comprehensive induction to key performance skills, and those with more experience will get to be challenged in their skills! Open to all over the age of 9, this will also be a great opportunity to learn lots, laugh lots and prepare some core skills for A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the Summer! However, doing the workshop doesn’t mean you need to be in the show – it is simply a fun workshop that is open to everyone and will be a fab learning opportunity for all involved.

Midsummers Principal Rehearsals: 1.30-5pm

We will be auditioning for these roles with current members at the end of the Autumn Term 2023. With our Summer Production being a Shakespeare, we know that the main cast will benefit from a longer rehearsal process, which is why we will be scanning and paraphrasing the text, and blocking the show with them a term ahead.

‘Contracts’ detailing the commitment are available at Stage2 on a Sunday, but you can also read it here.

Are you new to Stage2 and want a trial before committing?

Why not do a ‘Taster for a Tenner’? All you do is pay £10 and then if you decide to commit to us, you just pay the remainder of the fees the following week. To book your Taster, email rosie.nisbet@stage2.org.

Fees

Fees for Stage2 for the term are £185 per member, and £145 for any additional siblings booked at the same time. These can be paid cash/cheque either at Stage2 on a Sunday, or posted through the door of 12 Valentine Road, B14 7AN.

To pay on PayPal, use the button on this page. Bear in mind that to pay on PayPal, we need to charge a £5 Admin Fee due to the charges from PayPal. So if you are paying for one child, it will be £190 and for two children will be £335. If the £5 Admin charge is not made, we will ask for it in a follow-up payment.

We do also offer a Taster for a Tenner, whereby you pay just £10 for your very first session, and then pay the remaining balance the following week if you decide to commit to the rest of the sessions. The remaining balance will depend on when you book – so if you book before 1st December, the discounted price will still be honoured. This can be done using the PayPal button on this page.

Additionally, we are the only Youth Theatre in the Midlands to have a fully operational Subsidy Fund that is inclusive for anyone who requires it. It is so important to us that finances aren’t a barrier to young people getting involved in the Arts, so please visit our Subsidy Fund page to find out more information and download an application form. We encourage you to contribute what you can, but both part and full subsidies are available. Please also feel free to contact Rosie at rosie.nisbet@stage2.org / 07951122932 to discuss this.

Please also note we do charge a £5 booking fee for online bookings, included in the price on the PayPal button.

How to Book

New members – make sure you fill in an enquiry form to register your interest and ask any questions to Rosie before booking. Once you have paid, you will be sent a Registration Form to fill out.

Payment can be made via PayPal (using the button on this page) or by dropping off cash/a cheque (in a clearly labelled envelope stating your child’s name and a contact number/email) through the Stage2 Office – 12 Valentine Road, Kings Heath, B14 7AN.

At the time of booking, please state which option(s) you would like to do. If you are unsure, we would suggest trying all the ones you might want to do on the first week, then you can change your mind after that if you want to. Some of our options have a limited capacity, so you must do this to guarantee a place in your first choice(s)!
