Stage1 will continue to be run by the wonderful Eve and Alice, doing the same lovely mix of games and exercises. This group is for 7–11-year-olds, but if you know any 6-year-olds who would like to join, please tell us…! Stage1 is designed so that everyone can have fun and make friends, whilst building confidence and drama skills! You will then work towards producing a fabulous Sharing at the end of term, showcasing everything you have learnt to relatives and friends!
SUMMER SHOW Jekyll and Hyde (cast and chorus): 9.30am-1pm
This summer we will be spinning this classic, set text by Robert Louis Stevenson on its head, with a radical, inventive reimagination of the original tale written by acclaimed playwright Evan Placey. This version focusses on contemporary issues, mysteriously morphing into modern times as the play goes on, and levelling the question: how do we know what the truth is in a world controlled by science and technology?
In the mornings, Cast and Chorus will rehearse together to create big, busy scenes, depicting the hustle and bustle, and the mania of our contemporary society. Chorus can also choose to stay all day – absorbing more of the play and potentially getting the chance to be in some extra scenes. ANYONE can be in the Chorus of this show!
13th April 2025, Hazelwell Hub, 6:45-9pm: Concept Meeting
If you are in the cast or crew for Jekyll and Hyde you will need to attend our Concept Meeting, where we will be doing a full read through of the show, as well as lots of preliminary exercises and discussions.
20th – 25th July 2025: Production Week
If you are in the cast, crew or chorus for Jekyll and Hyde you must attend the WHOLE of Production Week from 5:30pm – 10:30pm each day. Performances will take place on Weds 23rd – Fri 25th July (2 performances on the Friday), with the Tech on the 21st and Dress on the 22nd…
Friends and Fun
The return of our hugely popular option that just focusses on you all having a great time in the Summer Term; plus the return of the popular Ryan to run it! This option will play games each week – some drama related, some general, all creative… Brought back by mass request especially for the major exam term, there will be nothing to do outside of sessions, no notes to write during sessions (just a bit of admin at the start as usual), and no pressure or responsibilities of any kind. Attendance can also be very flexible, just be committed and bring energy and positivity when you are there. This can be a chance to have a break from school, whilst keeping connected to your friends and having a lot of fun! The option is of course also open to those lucky enough to not be sitting exams….!
General Drama - Goodnight Mr Tom! 1.30-5pm
We are saying goodbye to our fantastic workshop leader Tom McMillan who has been with us for the last two years as he was finishing his studies at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He will now be moving to London to launch his acting career and we wish him all the best. We know he will be back to visit, and we shall also keep in touch with him. In his last term he presents his personal drama highlights from all the things he has learnt, and all the things he has taught! He will no doubt be open to taking a few requests from you too! Expect a huge range of games, exercises, improvisations and tips as well as a lot of laughs. This option will of course continue into the future – but with another Tutor – watch this space!
SUMMER SHOW Jekyll and Hyde (cast) : 1.30-5pm
In the afternoons, we will rehearse the Cast scenes of this show. All cast will need to stay all day each week. Anyone can audition to be in the Cast or the Crew on March 22nd 4:30-6pm at Cambridge Road Methodist Church.
There are a few exciting character twists in this version: Dr Jekyll is now Hattie Jekyll and Mr Hyde is now Flossie Hyde, and there are even some new characters, such as ‘the young woman’. These all help to bring to light contemporary issues, as Stevenson’s Victorian England collides with our modern society, and a mystery unfolds…

Are you new to Stage2 and want a trial before committing?
Why not do a ‘Taster for a Tenner’? All you do is pay £10 and then if you decide to commit to us, you just pay the remainder of the fees the following week. To book your Taster, email roni.mevorach@stage2.org.

Fees
Fees for Stage2 for the term are £185 per member, and £145 for any additional siblings booked at the same time. These can be paid cash/cheque either at Stage2 on a Sunday, or posted through the door of 12 Valentine Road, B14 7AN.
To pay on PayPal, use the button on this page. Bear in mind that to pay on PayPal, we need to charge a £5 Admin Fee due to the charges from PayPal. So if you are paying for one child, it will be £185 and for two children, it will be £325 BEFORE 1st March. After 1st March, it will be £195 for one child and £345 for 2 children.. If the £5 Admin charge is not made, we will ask for it in a follow-up payment.
We do also offer a Taster for a Tenner, whereby you pay just £10 for your very first session, and then pay the remaining balance the following week if you decide to commit to the rest of the sessions. The remaining balance will depend on when you book – so if you book before 1st July, the discounted price will still be honoured. This can be done using the PayPal button on this page.
Additionally, we are the only Youth Theatre in the Midlands to have a fully operational Subsidy Fund that is inclusive for anyone who requires it. It is so important to us that finances aren’t a barrier to young people getting involved in the Arts, so please visit our Subsidy Fund page to find out more information and download an application form. We encourage you to contribute what you can, but both part and full subsidies are available. Please also feel free to contact Roni at roni.mevorach@stage2.org / 07951122932 to discuss this.
Please also note we do charge a £5 booking fee for online bookings, included in the price on the PayPal button.
How to Book
New members – make sure you fill in an enquiry form to register your interest and ask any questions to Roni before booking. Once you have paid, you will be sent a Registration Form to fill out.
Payment can be made via PayPal (using the button on this page) or by dropping off cash/a cheque (in a clearly labelled envelope stating your child’s name and a contact number/email) through the Stage2 Office – 12 Valentine Road, Kings Heath, B14 7AN.
At the time of booking, please state which option(s) you would like to do. If you are unsure, we would suggest trying all the ones you might want to do on the first week, then you can change your mind after that if you want to.
