Morning Options

The Watsons (Cast, Crew & Chorus): 9.30am-1pm

Emma Watson is young, beautiful, and back in the marriage market. But just as the suitors start circling, the story hits a dead end. Jane Austen has abandoned the manuscript, leaving Emma stranded in a half-finished world…

The solution? Enter Laura, the modern-day playwright who steps out of her everyday life and into the 19th century to finish the job. But Emma and her family aren’t willing to be puppets anymore! As the boundaries between creator and character collapse, a riotous battle for control begins. In a world of balls, bonnets, and breaking the fourth wall, the Watsons are no longer just looking for a happy ending—they are fighting the playwright herself for their lives, their lines, and their liberty.

Stage2’s production is an absurdist, high-energy reimagining of the Regency era, that refuses to play by the rules. Weaving together contemporary dance, dynamic physical theatre, and bold ensemble work, we transform a period drama into a theatrical explosion. In this witty and chaotic face-off, we ask: who really holds the pen in our lives?

In the mornings, Cast and Chorus will rehearse together to create the full cast sequences – expect Regency Balls, raves and ridiculousness! Chorus can also choose to stay all day – absorbing more of the play and getting the chance to be in extra scenes.

Stage1: 9.30am-5pm

Stage1 will continue to run in the same room and the same slot, with Louis around for another year to ensure consistency and stability in this important group! This group is for 7-10 year olds (6-11 if you discuss with staff) and is designed so that everyone can have fun and make friends! Each week Stage1 will focus on different areas of Drama; improv, devising, music and more, exploring these ideas through games and exercises, building our confidence, and having fun. Taking all these techniques, we will build a performance to show back at the Sharings. It is possible for older, more experienced Stage1ers to stay for the whole day and do Storytelling: Polished Pieces for Performance too, but please speak to staff to discuss this first.

General Drama: 9.30am-1pm

Afternoon Options

The Watsons (Cast & Crew): 1.30-5pm

Show rehearsals continue into the afternoon with cast and crew, and any chorus member who wants to stay on.

Are you new to Stage2 and want a trial before committing?

Why not do a ‘Taster for a Tenner’? All you do is pay £10 and then if you decide to commit to us, you just pay the remainder of the fees the following week. To book your Taster, email info@stage2.org.

Fees

If you pay by 1st July 2026:
Fees are £190 (£195 on PayPal) per member, and £150 (£155 on PayPal) for any additional siblings booked at the same time

If you pay after 1st July 2026:
Fees are £200 (£205 on PayPal) per member, and £160 (£165 on PayPal) for any additional siblings booked at the same time.

Fees can be paid cash/cheque either at Stage2 on a Sunday, or posted through the door of 12 Valentine Road, B14 7AN.

To pay on PayPal, use the button on this page. Bear in mind that to pay on PayPal, we need to charge a £5 Admin Fee due to the charges from PayPal. So if you are paying for one child, it will be £195 and for two children will be £345 BEFORE 1st July. After 1st July, it will be £205 for one child and £365 for 2 children. If the £5 Admin charge is not made, we will ask for it in a follow-up payment.

We do also offer a Taster for a Tenner, whereby you pay just £10 for your very first session, and then pay the remaining balance the following week if you decide to commit to the rest of the sessions. The remaining balance will depend on when you book – so if you book before 1st March, the discounted price will still be honoured. This can be done using the PayPal button on this page.

Additionally, we are the only Youth Theatre in the Midlands to have a fully operational Subsidy Fund that is inclusive for anyone who requires it. It is so important to us that finances aren’t a barrier to young people getting involved in the Arts, so please visit our Subsidy Fund page to find out more information and download an application form. We encourage you to contribute what you can, but both part and full subsidies are available. Please also feel free to contact Liz at liz.light@stage2.org to discuss this.

How to Book

New members – make sure you fill in an enquiry form to register your interest and ask any questions to Mark before booking. Once you have paid, you will be sent a Registration Form to fill out.

Payment can be made via PayPal (using the button on this page) or by dropping off cash/a cheque (in a clearly labelled envelope stating your child’s name and a contact number/email) through the Stage2 Office – 12 Valentine Road, Kings Heath, B14 7AN.

At the time of booking, please state which option(s) you would like to do. If you are unsure, we would suggest trying all the ones you might want to do on the first week, then you can change your mind after that if you want to.
