All new members to Stage2 also get a Mentor assigned to them in their first term to help them out with navigating all of our exciting opportunities and making friends.

Stage1: 9.30am-1pm

Stage1 is our group for 7-11 year olds and runs on Sunday mornings, 9.30am-1pm. We are very exciting to be relaunching this group, which is all about fun and friends! If you want your child to gain confidence, make new friends, learn a new skill and have buckets of fun, then this is definitely the option for them. This session is lead by the wonderful Louis Delaney.

General Drama: 9.30am-1pm

How do actors really prepare for the stage? Over the Spring Term, we’re unpacking the actor’s toolkit to discover how professionals build dynamic characters and get stage-ready. Led by Royal Birmingham Conservatoire acting student and ex-member Krrish Mehta, this high-energy course explores a wide range of industry techniques through active play, practical exercises, and plenty of fun along the way.

Each week focuses on a different core skill – from improvisation and text work to dance, singing, monologues, ensemble building, and animal studies – building toward a final Sharing in the last week of term. Whether you want to master text analysis or request a specific performance style to explore, you’ll learn how to combine these tools to elevate your craft.

No previous experience required.

Anon(ymous) Cast & Chorus: 9.30am-1pm

Separated from their mother, young refugee Anon journeys across a chaotic modern America. Navigating sinister foes, beguiling strangers, and unexpected allies, Anon must brave cruelty and danger to find belonging. In Stage2’s production, the role of Anon will be shared and passed between multiple cast members—a visceral reminder that this journey belongs to millions.

Stage2’s production will be an entrancing, magical-realist retelling of Homer’s ancient Odyssey. Staged in traverse, with the audience framing a central “runway”, the space becomes a restless pathway echoing an epic voyage. Blending dynamic physical theatre, spoken poetry, and raw emotion, we transform a story of hardship into a transformative exploration of hope, memory, and home.

Anybody can join the chorus without any auditions.

Puppetry: 1.30-5pm

Step into the world of puppet making and performance! Each week, you’ll craft your own characters from scratch and bring them to life using core puppeteering techniques. By the end of term, every participant will be both a master maker and a skilled puppeteer!

We’ll experiment with an incredible variety of styles – from shadow puppets, marionettes, and rod puppets, to felt, body, and Japanese Bunraku-style puppets (plus a few surprises along the way!). Together, we’ll explore movement, voice, and storytelling through classic tales, original devised scenes, and high-energy drama games designed to put your puppets’ skills to the test.

No experience of puppets, arts/crafts or even acting necessary, just the desire to have adventures and fun!

Anon(ymous) Cast & Crew Rehearsals: 1.30-5pm

We will be auditioning for the cast of the Spring show with current members at the end of the Autumn Term 2026.

The Afternoon rehearsals for the Spring show will allow the rehearsing of less chorus heavy scenes to be continued into the afternoon.

‘Contracts’ detailing the commitment are available at Stage2 on a Sunday. If any chorus members would like to stick around for the afternoon session they are very welcome to. They may also get to join in some additional scenes.

Are you new to Stage2 and want a trial before committing?

Why not do a ‘Taster for a Tenner’? All you do is pay £10 and then if you decide to commit to us, you just pay the remainder of the fees the following week. To book your Taster, email markshaun.walsh@stage2.org.

Fees

Fees for Stage2 for the term are £190 (£195 on PayPal) per member, and £150 (£155 on PayPal) for any additional siblings booked at the same time, if you pay by 1st November, after which they go up to £200 (£160). These can be paid cash/cheque either at Stage2 on a Sunday, or posted through the door of 12 Valentine Road, B14 7AN.

To pay on PayPal, use the button on this page. Bear in mind that to pay on PayPal, we need to charge a £5 Admin Fee due to the charges from PayPal. So if you are paying for one child, it will be £195 and for two children will be £345 BEFORE 1st November. After 1st November, it will be £205 for one child and £365 for 2 children. If the £5 Admin charge is not made, we will ask for it in a follow-up payment.

We do also offer a Taster for a Tenner, whereby you pay just £10 for your very first session, and then pay the remaining balance the following week if you decide to commit to the rest of the sessions. The remaining balance will depend on when you book – so if you book before 1st November, the discounted price will still be honoured. This can be done using the PayPal button on this page.

Additionally, we are the only Youth Theatre in the Midlands to have a fully operational Subsidy Fund that is inclusive for anyone who requires it. It is so important to us that finances aren’t a barrier to young people getting involved in the Arts, so please visit our Subsidy Fund page to find out more information and download an application form. We ask you to contribute what you can, but both part and full subsidies are available. Please also feel free to contact Liz at liz.light@stage2.org to discuss this.

How to Book

New members – make sure you fill in an enquiry form to register your interest and ask any questions to Mark before booking. Once you have paid, you will be sent a Registration Form to fill out.

Payment can be made via PayPal (using the button on this page) or by dropping off cash/a cheque (in a clearly labelled envelope stating your child’s name and a contact number/email) through the Stage2 Office – 12 Valentine Road, Kings Heath, B14 7AN.

At the time of booking, please state which option(s) you would like to do. If you are unsure, we would suggest trying all the ones you might want to do on the first week, then you can change your mind after that if you want to.
