25th – 29th August 2025
10am-5pm with an early drop off for working parents
@ The Hub Hazelwell, 318 Vicarage Road, B14 7NH
Open to members and non-members age 7-21

Moving
Monday – Holly Bateman/Open Theatre (Moving)
We are delighted to welcome back Holly, a mime and physical theatre specialist from the acclaimed inclusive theatre company (opentheatre.co.uk) to teach you loads of basics – hints, tips and tricks as she explores all kinds of non-verbal communication.
Making
Tuesday – Emma-Jo Tucker (Making)
Emma-Jo from the Stage2 Board (and an experienced arts and drama practitioner) will bring another of her crazy making days, where you often leave with more paint on your faces than on the canvas. (Remember to wear old clothes for this one…)
Acting
Wednesday – Lauren Brine (Acting)
Lauren is delighted to be back running a day filled with fun and exciting approaches to acting! You’ll be playing lots of games – all her favourites from her time in Stage2 and beyond, that she can’t wait to share with you. Join her for a day of fun-filled acting exercises, devising workshops and story making!
Sound
Thursday – Joel Fleming (Sound)
Joel is a singer-songwriter studying at LIPA in Liverpool (set up by Paul McCartney) who has released songs on Spotify and other streaming platforms @joelfleming. He is excited to be back at Stage2 leading a day exploring how music affects our performances, how soundscapes can create atmosphere, and much more!
Playing
Friday – Louis Delaney (Playing)
Current chaperone – and new General Drama Tutor (!) – Louis has years of experience as a play worker in Birmingham and Brighton, working with young people of all ages. This workshop will be filled with games, fun and endless silliness (and probably a parachute).
Pic 'n' Mix!
Open to ANYONE aged 7-21 with absolutely no previous experience required! Just come down, have fun and make friends!
We are delighted to be offering our ever-popular ‘Pic ‘n’ Mix’ Summer School again this year, featuring a range of varied workshops and activities, with a different practitioner each day! Days will involve acting, writing, making, music and much more…
This option is open to absolutely anyone and will be suitable for all ages and experience levels. You can do the whole week or any combination of days!

Shakespeare!
Jewels in the Crown
Explore Shakespeare’s Classic Speeches with Liz Light
This is an intensive course, where participants must sign up for the whole week.
We will be looking at 20+ key and famous speeches from 15 plays – paraphrasing them, looking at the scansion (don’t worry if you haven’t done any of this, we will teach you), discussing themes and where they sit within the play/canon and why.
The week will include a look at Shakespeare’s career as a whole, as well as common themes and plot lines. We will also be staging 5 minute versions of some of the plays to get a (weird and wonderful) overview! The speeches are all taken from the list for LAMDA’s Shakespeare Level 3 Syllabus, so anyone taking this course will be able to sign up for this A level standard exam in the future (once you have passed Levels 1 and 2). They are also from all the texts set for GCSE and A level English, so this will be very useful for school – or just come and appreciate the beautiful language and expand your general knowledge and insight.
Please note that this course is mainly theory based, with only a bit of practical, so may not suit everyone (we suggest members aged 11 and above). We will be providing handouts, but will also expect participants to write some notes throughout too.
£125 for the week. Booking opens on 4th May – siblings and friends welcome.

At Stage2, it is very important to us that finance isn’t a barrier for young people to access the Arts. That is why we have a fully functional Subsidy Fund, where people can claim full or part subsidies for Stage2 activities. For more information about this, please visit the Subsidy Page and/or email info@stage2.org .
