Please use the toggle bars below to explore the options and find out more. You can do both a morning and an afternoon slot at no extra cost!

All new members to Stage2 also get a Young Leader buddy in their first term to help them out with navigating all of our exciting opportunities and making friends.

Stage1: 9.30am-1pm

This group is for 7-10 year olds (6 and 11 year olds can be discussed separately!) and is designed so that everyone can have fun and make friends, whilst building confidence and drama skills! The theme for Stage1 next term will be… Stage 1: The Show! We’ll go through all the different aspects of putting on a show – from lighting and sound to writing and directing. Throughout the term, we’ll build a show to put on at the Sharings, with plenty of games and fun along the way!

SPRING SHOW Tales from Ovid PART 1 (cast and chorus): 9.30am-1pm

The Tales are a retelling of stories from one of the greatest books of Roman Literature –  Ovid’s Metamorphoses – focusing on the theme of change and transformation, with people, nymphs, and gods transforming into animals, rocks and even plants! In Part 1, we will be looking at famous tales such as Echo and Narcissus and Arachne and Minerva. The Cast and Chorus for Part 1 will all rehearse in the mornings, and there will also be lots of opportunities for design, lighting and sound – as we want this to be a visually stunning piece. Remember to think about combinations (and go for as many things as possible – we will decide what suits you best!): e.g, you could do Cast of Part 1 in the morning and Chorus of Part 2 in the afternoon, Tech in the morning and Cast in the afternoon, Cast in the morning and Workshop in the afternoon, etc etc! Auditions and Interviews will be on November 24th in the morning – with alternative slots on November 17th at lunch time, book with Roni at roni.mevorach@stage2.orASAP.

17th December 2024, 5:30-8:30pm: Concept Meeting

If you audition/ interview for Tales from Ovid you must be available for our Concept Meeting, where we will be doing a full read through of the show, as well as lots of preliminary exercises and discussions.

8th –  12th April 2025: Production Week (Get In on Monday 7th)

If you audition or interview for Tales from Ovid you must make sure you are available for the WHOLE of Production Week from 5:30pm – 10:30pm each day. Performances will take place on 10th – 12th April.

Pic 'n' Mix: 9.30am-1pm
This brand new option will build on the success of our last Summer School and be called Pic ‘n’ Mix! It will be overseen by an experienced practitioner, whilst our oldest and most experienced members will deliver their strongest and favourite topics. There will be a different theme each week, with something for everyone of all ages and abilities!

General Drama - Working Together: 1.30-5pm

After a term of building your own characters, we are now exploring the opposite – team work! Whatever you do in drama – be it onstage, offstage or backstage you will be an important part of a team, with all members necessary to make the group function as best it can. Being an active and positive member of a group is such a useful skill to have, and not just in drama, but also a range of hobbies and careers. We will take part in a wide range of fun games, exercises and improvisations as we look at how to work together, relying on and supporting each other and making friends along the way. This option is suitable for anyone – no previous experience needed, just a commitment to being enthusiastic and having fun.

SPRING SHOW Tales from Ovid PART 2 (cast and chorus): 1.30-5pm

Part 2 will take a slightly darker turn, exploring how love is both a beautiful and harmful transformative power. Again, the Cast and Chorus for this part will all rehearse together in the afternoons, and there will also be loads of opportunities for artistic and technical creativity. Remember to think about combinations (and go for as many things as possible – we will decide what suits you best!): you could do Cast in the morning and Chorus in the afternoon, Tech in the morning and Cast in the afternoon, Cast in the morning and Workshop in the afternoon, etc etc! Auditions and Interviews will be held on November 24th late morning – anyone can come to these, not just members in Production Skills, so come early if you only do afternoons!

Are you new to Stage2 and want a trial before committing?

Why not do a ‘Taster for a Tenner’? All you do is pay £10 and then if you decide to commit to us, you just pay the remainder of the fees the following week. To book your Taster, email roni.mevorach@stage2.org.

 Fees

Fees for Stage2 for the term are £180 (£185 on PayPal) per member, and £140 (£145 on PayPal) for any additional siblings booked at the same time, if you pay by 1st December, after which they go up to £190 (£150). These can be paid cash/cheque either at Stage2 on a Sunday, or posted through the door of 12 Valentine Road, B14 7AN.

To pay on PayPal, use the button on this page. Bear in mind that to pay on PayPal, we need to charge a £5 Admin Fee due to the charges from PayPal. So if you are paying for one child, it will be £185 and for two children will be £325. If the £5 Admin charge is not made, we will ask for it in a follow-up payment.

We do also offer a Taster for a Tenner, whereby you pay just £10 for your very first session, and then pay the remaining balance the following week if you decide to commit to the rest of the sessions. The remaining balance will depend on when you book – so if you book before 1st December, the discounted price will still be honoured. This can be done using the PayPal button on this page.

Additionally, we are the only Youth Theatre in the Midlands to have a fully operational Subsidy Fund that is inclusive for anyone who requires it. It is so important to us that finances aren’t a barrier to young people getting involved in the Arts, so please visit our Subsidy Fund page to find out more information and download an application form. We encourage you to contribute what you can, but both part and full subsidies are available. Please also feel free to contact Roni at roni.mevorach@stage2.org / 07951122932 to discuss this.

Please also note we do charge a £5 booking fee for online bookings, included in the price on the PayPal button.

How to Book

New members – make sure you fill in an enquiry form to register your interest and ask any questions to Roni before booking. Once you have paid, you will be sent a Registration Form to fill out.

Payment can be made via PayPal (using the button on this page) or by dropping off cash/a cheque (in a clearly labelled envelope stating your child’s name and a contact number/email) through the Stage2 Office – 12 Valentine Road, Kings Heath, B14 7AN.

At the time of booking, please state which option(s) you would like to do. If you are unsure, we would suggest trying all the ones you might want to do on the first week, then you can change your mind after that if you want to.
