Stage2

School Help and Curriculum

School HelpMany workshops and productions are related to the National Curriculum. For example, work-shops in War Poetry or Tales from Shakespeare relate to set texts, writers or work from a particular genre. This type of workshop is usually requested by our members - who, very astutely, realise it is a good way of revising!

Many schools arrange outings to our shows, as they know they will be of a high standard and accessible, as well as thought provoking.

The National Curriculum increasingly calls for broader study of subjects, with an emphasis on project work, rather than specifically dictated lessons and exams. Through their membership of Stage2 pupils often identify their own projects and much schoolwork has been inspired by topics covered here.

Life, the Universe and Acting.

Skills learnt at Stage2 are transferable and beneficial to any career: acting on stage helps build presentation skills and confidence; technical roles require discipline, organisation, diplomacy, communication skills and the ability to be an approachable and authoritative figure; The Fundraising and Marketing committees learn about the big, wide world namely, how to present themselves and the company in the best way, write letters, learn business etiquette, carry out research and conduct themselves maturely at meetings.

We also offer exams run by The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Our members can study for accredited qualifications in Acting, Mime, Musical Theatre, Verse & Prose and Improvisation. We have an excellent track record of achieving top results. N.B. These exams are now part of the National Qualifications Framework and so the higher grades accrue points towards University entry. Examination lessons can work as a ‘fast track’ for improving drama skills, as well as boosting confidence and, of course, being a lot of fun!
