Stage2 is Birmingham’s biggest and busiest youth theatre company, dedicated to giving young people across the West Midlands, between the ages of 7-21, fantastic hands-on experience in the magic of theatre. After the success of 2009’s double serving of Shakespeare; A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night, as well as a huge performance of David Hare’s The Permanent Way and most recently Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood, we thought it only right to make sure the shows in 2010/11 went off with just as much of a bang.
“Every member of this remarkable young team brims with bubbling commitment”
Evening Mail
Stage2’s Autumn Term 2010 will be a massive menagerie of different theatrical disciplines and styles, including workshops to develop useful skills for now and the future, such as trust exercises and confidence building. Stage2 is also proud to present three fantastic productions;
Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach (5-8 Jan 2011) - a vivid exploration of a boy’s adventure on a giant peach, carried by hundreds of seagulls to New York! Stage2 welcomes new members to join us for this spectacular show! Learn valuable acting skills, act in professional spaces and gain first-hand experience of real theatre.
The following week (12-15 Jan 2011) we present two Claire Dowie monologues - Arsehammers and The Year of the Monkey. We are thrilled that our Patron has given personal permission to present these premieres of her work as full cast plays. Presented as two stylised pieces of moving physical theatre the ‘shorts’ will be brought to life with a vibrant cast of young performers.
If acting’s not your style, try out for our Technical Crews and our Technical Staff will take you through all the necessary training to prepare you for working with high quality equipment in a professional venue.
“Stage2 demonstrate just how powerfully youth theatre can engage in the big issues of life and love and indeed bring a dimension that adult theatre may struggle to offer.” Stage2 Parent
That sound too much? You don’t have to be in the show straight away, we’re filled with friendly, happy kids from all kinds of backgrounds and social settings; we know that everyone is different, that’s why we have our own Mentor Scheme; every new member is assigned their own Mentor Buddy to make sure you’re all okay. So you have nothing to worry about; join our General Drama workshop and develop your talents, or for younger members (7-10) there’s Stage1, so you can get to know your company and make a lot of new friends! Interested? You can contact us for a free information pack on how to join and how the company works, simply by visiting the Stage2 website www.Stage2.org or phoning the Stage2 phone on 07961 018841.
