Doing anything new for the first time can be scary, and joining a youth theatre as big and busy as Stage2 is no exception! Don’t let that put you off though – that’s why the Mentors are here. The Mentors are a group of especially friendly, helpful and responsible Stage2 members aged between 13 and 18 who are there to help you settle into Stage2. There are 14 Mentors and you’ll know them straight away from their bright red t-shirts and big red badges! As soon as you arrive the Mentors will be there to help out and you’ll even be assigned a Mentor Buddy on your first day, who will then contact you throughout the course of your first term to help make sure you feel comfortable and secure in the company. They’re always available to answer any questions you may have, lend a helping hand or just be someone to chat to if you ever need it!
Stage2’s Mentor Scheme was set up 5 years ago and it continues to go from strength to strength. Just recently our excellent work in this field was acknowledged by the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation, who awarded us their Approved Provider Standard - making us the first (and currently still the only) youth theatre in the UK with this award! All of our Mentors have received training in Mentoring skills and they are each hugely committed to their roles, in particular making sure that all members get the very best experience that they can out of Stage2. They even organise fun social events for everyone in the company to attend, including discos and quiz nights!
If you have any questions about any aspect of the company, feel free to ask the Mentors via the Stage2 Mentor email. After all, we are here to help! |
