Information: I had been interested in Drama in the past, I was in a production of ‘Joseph’ with my school (I played Pharaoh), but I’d never really wanted to join a drama company especially. My first experience of Stage2 had been at their production of ‘Spoonface Steinberg’, which I really enjoyed, I then saw ‘Twelfth Night’ and ‘Under Milk Wood’, which I loved too but still didn’t really want to join (I did have a secret love of drama by then though!). However, my two siblings, Abi and Jonnie joined and after a few terms they had nothing but praise for Stage2! I was reluctant, but after some persuasion I joined up and haven’t regretted it since! Why hadn’t I joined sooner?
As soon as I arrived on my first day I felt at home and comfortable with my surroundings, there was a team of lovely Mentors to help with anything anytime and the Core Staff (hooray for you guys!) were all awesome and infinitely delightful. In my first term I did chorus in the production of ‘Shakers’, it was hard work at first but it soon felt natural and I was having a great time and looking forward to each week. The production week was a huge success and we all felt like we’d done a fabulous production in the end. I then auditioned for ‘Arsehammers’ (part of ‘A Claire Dowie Double Bill’) and was delighted that I got a part after only being in the company for a term!
In the Holidays before I went on to do ‘Arsehammers’ I took part in the Costume and Prop workshop for ‘James and the Giant Peach’ (the separate play to mine, my brother and sister were in it as main cast!). The workshop was hilarious and great fun, we were really proud of the costumes we finished up with and the week was well worth it. This gave me a real motivation for ‘Arsehammers’ I had seen how brilliant ‘JatGP’ was going to be and I was determined to make ‘Arsehammers’ better than that! Arsehammers was a premiere performance (the first ever, basically) and it was also a one act physical theatre piece - a very special combination. The term doing ‘Arsehammers’ was one of the best things I had ever done in my life and the play was very special to the very limited cast of 16 (with no chorus either). I was so happy with what I achieved that term and I surprised not only myself but my friends and family as well. In that term we had fun, everyone tried hard, and everyone was as nice as could be.
After the energetic term of doing ‘Arsehammers’ I interviewed to be Stage 1 Assistant. Stage1 is like a mini Stage2 workshop in the afternoons for 7-10 year olds. I was very happy when I was picked and had a fantastic term working with such a happy (and VERY energetic) group of kids, who were truly delightful. Colin, the person in charge of Stage1, was a very good role model to me and he was a delightful person to have around. In the mornings before I did Stage 1 I did General Drama, which basically focused on basic acting skills and techniques and was thoroughly enjoyable. We all had a great time and it was a joyful, comfortable place to be.
This term I have been cast in ‘Our Day Out’ an exciting, colourful musical production that I am enjoying thoroughly. I look forward to every week and can’t wait to see what the future holds for me at Stage 2. I have no one to thank more at Stage2 than the support staff; they’re a lovely, amazing, fantastic group of people that deserve a lot more than they’re credited for. I love my Saturdays at Stage 2 and I love everyone there.

Everyone lived up to the demanding standards that this remarkable Youth Group sets itself. The first night sent me home rejoicing. (Much Ado About Nothing)
