Information: My sister had been going to Stage2 for a while and I had been coming to see all the shows and really enjoying them. However I was very shy and felt that I wasn’t confident enough to join – even though I really enjoyed drama. Eventually my sister persuaded me to join. The first time I went into Stage2 I remember looking around and seeing such high quality work, I was in awe. Very soon I made many good friends! Everyone was so nice and welcoming it was very different to school. I had just moved schools and didn’t really know anyone there so Stage2 really helped. It also helped with my confidence: I remember after the first night of “Much Ado about Nothing” I felt so happy I had never done anything like this and it was amazing! After that term I just couldn’t stop; I was doing show after show after show. After about three terms I decided to join the Marketing Committee I thought it would be very hard to understand and at first it was. But I learnt fast and I felt proud because most of my school friends didn’t even know what Marketing means. My most memorable moment is when I and another committee member designed the gold Stage2 leaflet. I felt so proud to know my leaflet was being distributed everywhere. I also have been to BUTLINS!!! It was amazingly fun, nothing to do with drama but helped us gel together as a group. Which is just as important. All in all Stage2 so far has been an amazing experience. The great thing about it is you don’t just become better actors you become better people. I have learnt so much and when school is annoying I always know Stage2 is going to be there.

Stage2 gives these young people a sense of purpose, a sense of direction, a sense of belonging.
