Information: I joined Stage2 about 8 years ago, when I was 9. You can probably tell that, since then, Stage2’s been a major part of my life. For the first 6 years, it was mainly my get-away from the strains of everything else. I did a lot of shows, but more workshops – I just didn’t have the confidence to go for more things. Even if I wasn’t taking part in more than the Saturday aspect of Stage2, I was making new friends every term, learning dozens of useful hints, tips, ‘factoids’ and general things along the way. 2 years ago, that all changed. When I was first interviewed to become a Mentor I was turned down – the reason being that I wasn’t taking part in enough aspects of the company to be able to be a fully operational Mentor. So, I decided I’d work on that. I auditioned for The Crucible and got cast, joined the Marketing Committee and went on my first ever Distribution Day (which was amazingly, surprisingly fun). About halfway through the Autumn term of 2007, one of the Mentors dropped out – and I was asked if I wanted to be the replacement! I have to say, I wasn’t quite prepared for the workload, but that’s the great thing about Stage2: they teach you. Even if you jump into things halfway through, not completely sure about the task at hand, and don’t have exactly the right set of skills for it, Stage2 will provide you with them. Ever since then I haven’t looked back. I’ve joined the Fundraising Committee, done cast and chorus more frequently in shows, organised Mentorvents, gone to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, been a Mentor for 2 years, and developed a sense of responsibility and confidence that I never had before, and that I would never have achieved were it not for Stage2’s constant support.

The acting of every single one of the children / young people was excellent; the sound and lighting were expertly handled; and the direction was superb in all respects.  Spoonface was a production that would not have disgraced the West End
