I joined Stage2 after being forcibly dragged to their production of ‘The Lord of the Flies’ by my mum (as I was studying it in English). I kept on trying to think of excuses not to go, but in the end, I went, and was completely bowled over by how amazing every single detail of the production was. I knew I just had to join Stage2. My first impression of Stage2 was ‘WOW! There are so many opportunities. This isn’t like other youth theatres at all!’.
I haven’t even been coming to Stage2 for a year, and already I feel like I’ve been here forever. When I first joined as a nervous, shy fourteen year old, I had no idea that Stage2 would change my life, and change who I was as a person. I’ve become much more confident, organized, proactive and talkative, as a result of all the new friends I’ve made, my lovely mentor buddy and all the dedicated, amazing tutors and trainee tutors. I’ve taken part in two sensational shows, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed, I’ve learned tons about Shakespeare, I’m doing a LAMDA exam, I’ve gone to a Stage2 Disco, I’ve done Distribution Days and I’ve joined the Marketing Committee. And I can’t wait to go on holiday to Butlins with all my friends in October, or for next term’s show, ‘Twelfth Night’! (Anyone who thinks kids hate Shakespeare obviously hasn’t been to Stage2.) Recently, I applied to join the Stage2 Mentor scheme. I wasn’t expecting to get in at all, but to my surprise, I did. Here at Stage2, every individual is given a chance to shine, and contribute to the company in the way that suits them. No matter what may be going on in my life, I always find myself looking forward to Saturdays. I think Stage2 has so many opportunities, and everyone can benefit from it, in different ways. |
