Information: I’ve always been interested in theatre as a hobby and had been in numerous theatre companies ever since I was young; I heard about Stage2 from a member who went to the school next door to mine and I thought I’d give it a go. What struck me about Stage2 on my first day was that there was so much choice and it didn’t have to be acting if you didn’t want: there were technical roles, workshops, general drama and full scale productions every term in proper theatre spaces! I chose the Introduction to Shakespeare workshop and from that moment Stage2 had fostered my passion for Shakespeare: I saw both The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as well as being in the chorus for Much Ado About Nothing. Additionally I have been privileged enough to go to the Stratford Institute to study with some of the most talented academics in the world on Shakespeare. One of the great things about Stage2 is that everyone is really enthusiastic about learning and sharing knowledge in order to bring texts to life and help with your schoolwork. I have been so inspired by my academic experience of Stage2 that I am currently as part of my AQA Baccalaureate, doing an EPQ on the role of female characters in Shakespeare, which was directly influenced by my visit to the Stratford Institute of Shakespeare! As well as improving my grades through Stage2, Stage2 has helped incredibly with my confidence; the supportive environment has helped my personal development and when I applied to be a Mentor I was thrilled in being accepted because I wanted to give something back to the company who has given so much and has only asked for me to commit as much or as little as I want in return. Stage2 had truly shaped who I am and I will remember my experiences for the rest of my life.
