On my first day at Stage2 I didn’t know a single person but within the first 10 seconds I was chatting away to complete strangers as If they were my best friends. That’s one of the best things about Stage2. Everybody is really friendly and there is a real sense of security and community- nobody is ever left out. I’ve been here now for 6 years of fun, friendship and fabulous memories. I’ll never forget the buzz of the production weeks or the people I have met or the triumphant feeling you get at the end of rehearsals because you and your friends achieved something wonderful. For the first two years I concentrated on building up my skills. Most terms I did the workshops and learnt about puppetry, musical theatre, improvisation and group work. I did a couple of terms in the chorus of the shows also so that I could build my confidence. Anybody can be in a show, which is another marvellous thing about Stage2. I didn’t feel ready for auditions yet but I could still be in a full scale production. Eventually I auditioned for the show “Oliver Twist” and got my first role as a minor. Since then I have been main cast in “Much Ado About Nothing”, “Teechers”, “Lord of the Flies” and “Spoonface Steinberg”. My roles in the various plays have often been very different to each other meaning that I could experience a variety of different characters and build upon my acting.
A few terms ago I joined the Marketing Committee. This meant that I could learn how to do exciting things like writing press releases, promotion, minute-writing and much more. So far I have drawn up a marketing campaign, designed print and written many letters.
Two terms ago I started to do LAMDA exams with Stage2 and last term I was Assistant Director for our production. I am looking forward to all the opportunities Stage2 will offer in the future. |
