When I first walked through the doors of Stage2 in January 2007, I had no idea what to expect. I had seen three shows before joining, all of extremely high quality. It was nerve-wracking joining as I had no acting experience whatsoever. I came to discover that didn't matter one bit. As soon as I entered, it became clear that it was no ordinary youth group - no-one was patronising, the people were all friendly, there were huge numbers of opportunities that seemed to be open to everybody! You could do as much or as little as you wanted, all that mattered is that you did your best so that you and everyone else got the most out of it they could. One of my favourite aspects of Stage2 is the number one rule which is 'Nobody gets left out at any time'. What's great about it, is that every single person who is a part of Stage2 upholds that rule without question - whether it is a tutor, trainee tutor, Mentor or just a member. It must seem mad to just go into a group of over 100 teenagers and expect everyone to be nice, but Stage2 is proof that it is possible. It means that everyone is totally secure in the Stage2 environment doing anything they choose without worrying and I believe that is really vital to people in the age group. Joining Stage2 has given me some of the best friends I could ever hope to find, and experiences and memories I will hold dear to me for the ret of my life. I only wish I had joined sooner! |
