Information: I went to see the performance that Stage2 was doing at Artsfest and was very impressed at the standard of acting. I have always been interested in drama, so was keen to sign up, if a little apprehensive about joining a big youth theatre. I was a bit nervous on my first day, but could really feel the friendly ethos of the company and was taken under the wings of some older members. I was in the chorus of Requiem for Ground Zero in my first term and found it really hard work, but I had never done anything like this before, and enjoyed it after a short while. After this, I did General Drama for quite a few terms and built a lot of confidence and skills for performing. I then felt ready to take part in shows. After having thoroughly enjoyed being in the chorus for The Tempest, Bouncers and Adult Child Dead Child, I decided to audition for the cast of Cider with Rosie, and was rewarded with the role of the title character. I had to work really hard to get my character right, but loved the whole term; especially production week. During the term of Two, I applied to become a Mentor; this involved filling in an application form and then a panel interview. It was my first ever interview so I was ecstatic when I discovered I had been accepted. In the year that followed we had a lot of training in various Mentoring skills, and I felt that I was contributing a lot more to the company. When Stage2 moved to Saturdays I became part of the 'Sunday group', as the rest of the company moved to Saturdays. For this term we entered a condensed version of Requiem for Ground Zero for LAMDA Grade 5 group exam and after a lot of effort we achieved 98% - the highest grade given to a group for LAMDA worldwide. I feel it is important to give back to a special company such as Stage2. I love being part of this amazing company and hope to continue with Stage2 for a long time yet.

Stage2 gives these young people a sense of purpose, a sense of direction, a sense of belonging.
