Stage2 had always been something I'd been aware of for a number of years, mainly due to my dad who works at The Birmingham School of Acting. When I was fifteen, I became friends with long-running members of the company who were always talking about the productions, their friends within the company, and Butlins! Even still quite shy, I joined with my school friends for some security. I found the company to be really engaging and exciting, and I also was able to put faces to names I'd been hearing in so many conversations! I saw my first Stage2 show - Much Ado About Nothing, and I was blown away by the incredible high standards on every level. I instantly adapted to and enjoyed Stage2, and became a very dedicated and enthusiastic member. A key part of my time in Stage2 has been the Mentor Scheme. I have been a Mentor for two academic years and the vast amount of skills and training I have acquired has become very special to me, not just working on a professional level, but also with my confidence and making a huge difference to my emotional progressions. I am now in the process of considering my future options, including university - something I may not have been able to have thought about if it wasn't for the tutors and members of Stage2. I think that what has meant the most to me during my time in Stage2 has been the incredible pastoral and individual care. In Stage2, everyone is a valid, important individual and no matter who you are, your experiences, background, you are sure to find a place where you can truly flourish and create powerfully positive memories. One thing I can guarantee is that I will always carry the fundamental values and morals of Stage2's foundations with me throughout life. |
