I joined Stage2 5 years ago when I decided I wanted to pursue a career in the theatre and now, being 17 going on 18, the time has finally approached where drama school auditions are taking place. However there is no way that I could have began this process without help from Stage2 tutors. I had trouble from the very start when writing my personal statement, I couldn't think of anything to write about that would appeal to any drama schools or universities. I asked Liz if I could arrange some sessions with her and everything was sorted out immediately around my timetable. I discovered that because of Stage2 I had actually been involved in more beneficial things than I first realised such as interviews with play writes such as Claire Dowie and Willy Russell and been in a number of 5 star review shows to mention a few. Then work started on audition pieces. As I had previously taken LAMDA exams and been to LAMDA evenings, I found that I already had some pieces in mind then Liz helped me with the blocking and polishing all these pieces in time for my first audition. As you can never be sure what the audition panel are going to ask for I learnt that having much more than your standard two pieces prepared was really useful. The audition process can be rather gruesome but as I was confident with the pieces that had been blocked I felt a little more secure. I am eternally grateful for all the time and effort tutors have spent helping me over this past term and the fact that they are doing this all free of charge is wonderful. I couldn't have done it without them. |
