Stage2

Additional Involvement

Anyone can get more involved in Stage2 at any time. These are just some of the ways...

Additional InvolvementFor Real Work Experience

Join our Marketing Committee, which teaches the principles and application of Marketing and Public Relations. We decide and work on all company promotion - press work, copywriting of leaflets, sending mail-outs, networking and developing new contacts, updating mailing lists etc. Members meet at least twice a term and decide and discuss more ideas to promote Stage2 as well as developing their knowledge of this exciting and stimulating field. There is also the opportunity to spend a week at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Join our Fundraising Committee.
As a registered charity constantly striving to keep down costs to members, we have to raise money from other sources. This committee has regular meetings and does loads of research into creative and resourceful funding as well as learning the process and intricacies of applying for funds. We also give the members the skills to raise their own funds for projects and to help them through drama school and university etc.

Additional InvolvementFor Life Skills...

Apply for our Mentor Scheme. Our Mentoring team help us ensure that we are looking out for and providing a secure environment for all of our members. Our Mentors receive extensive training in how to build a rapport with a variety of people, empathy and patience; how to counsel/advise (within defined parameters); how to be an effective listener; how to make people feel valued and important; how to identify problems at early stages etc. Mentors are recruited annually through an interview and application process.

For Research

Join us on an Outing or Trip. Each show Stage2 works on (and for lots of the workshops) we take trips or outings to another show, historical site or relevant town. We also bring guests in as well as go out to visit authors or characters from the plays where applicable. This all helps to build a show's atmosphere and adds to our members' learning experience, it makes a production come alive and seem more real and relevant.

We also organise social events such as cabarets, parties, gigs and residential trips to Butlins!

Claire Dowie combines the smoothness and audience rapport of a stand-up comic, the hypnotic intensity of an inspired storyteller and the inventiveness of an insightful and sensitive author, alternately (and sometimes simultaneously) comic, moving and frightening, sprinkled with flashes of high comedy.
